AgmaX™ Biobased Agmatine
Agmatine is a naturally occurring compound derived from L-arginine, found in the body, especially in the brain and muscles. It also occurs naturally in some fermented foods like wine and is commonly available as agmatine sulfate in supplements.
Agmatine (4-aminobutyl-guanidine) is produced through the decarboxylation of L-arginine and acts as a neurotransmitter and neuromodulator. It plays roles in nerve signaling, metabolic regulation, and muscle function, with most of it stored in skeletal muscles.
AgmaX™ Biobased agmatine is produced by microbial fermentation from genetically engineered strains such as E. coli and Aspergillus oryzae, providing a sustainable alternative to chemical synthesis. This biotechnological process maintains the compound’s bioactivity while reducing environmental impact. Functionally, biobased agmatine mirrors synthetic agmatine, supporting neurotransmission, cognitive health, and metabolic regulation.
Research shows that agmatine may help in managing neuropathic pain, improving mental health, enhancing cognitive function, and boosting athletic performance. Biobased agmatine has also been researched for neuropsychiatric disease, metabolic diseases, and endocrine-related disorders like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
